Rationale

A thriving nonprofit/charity marketplace is critical to address the urgent social problems America faces today. Good Cause Communications, Inc. responds to the challenges of a marketplace struggling against economic conditions that threaten the viability of over to 100,000 nonprofit groups in the next two years. Established as a 501(c)3 nonprofit resource to benefit not-for-profit organizations, Good Cause Communications is positioned to keep many of these threatened groups viable through the integrated components of the Good Cause program. The Good Cause Public Relations Cares program is designed to leverage the talents of over 250,000 public relations professionals willing to invest their time to help nonprofits develop sustainable business and fundraising strategies.

Nonprofits must be able to communicate successfully to raise the visibility of their missions as well as support ongoing fundraising needs. Many of these organizations are severely limited in supporting their missions due to ever tightening budgets and the increasingly high cost of professional guidance.

The GC program operates on the model of the Legal Aid Society in that it brings together talented Public Relations professionals and students who desire to serve the needs of nonprofits that cannot afford such expertise. Good Cause account teams, organized by social needs such as education, health, arts, and the environment, assist nonprofit clients in communicating program plans, events, and achievements to the general public, their customers and financial resource providers on a free-to-low cost basis.

The Good Cause program serves this goal through three integrated components.

Public Relations Cares tm - A National Volunteer Social Responsibility Partnership. Good Cause Communications serves as the central operations and account management organization in creating and sustaining a social responsibility partnership connection between public relations professionals, aspiring students, and commercial agencies willing to advance the important work of nonprofit organizations.

Through its national volunteer/intern program, Public  Relations Carestm matches the requirements of recognized nonprofit organizations with the talents of public relations professionals from the public relations industry and universities. Many public relations professionals and the firms they represent are eager to provide services on a pro bono or reduced cost basis to worthy causes. Colleges and universities are anxious to provide their students with real-world, hands-on learning experiences that also respond to the social responsibility interests of their students. Good Cause Communications student interns develop critical skills as they collaborate with seasoned public relations professionals to advance the worthwhile missions of the organizations they serve. All parties, the communities they serve, and the professionals and students dedicated to deploying their skills—benefit from the resulting partnership.

Good Cause News tmA Newswire about and for the Public Good. The Good Cause Newswire is a Web-based clearinghouse and newswire that enables the media, the blogging community, activists, and individuals to find and link to important news/event announcements generated by the nation’s nonprofit organizations. The goal of the Good Cause Newswire is to expand the public’s ability to learn more about and support those organizations by category, interest, or geography. Good Cause News designed to be a community-based resource, providing its participants the ability to share their requirements, concerns, and interests.

Business Management/Tools - Making it all Work. The client relationship and internal agency staff/intern collaboration process is driven by the use of innovative online tools that dramatically reduces overhead while improving efficiency. The service emphasizes advanced digital connectivity to provide a collaborative platform for ongoing centralized learning, client communications, and fundraising support. Without greater investment in tools and resources to equip nonprofits and foundations to be more effective, the charitable marketplace will fall short of its underlying mission of making our communities better places to live and work.

Good Cause Communications and its partners have provided strategic start-up financing to address the critical needs of the nation’s nonprofit community. A full-time core team of public relations account professionals provides ongoing strategic guidance and day-to-day program execution in conjunction with volunteer/intern staff.
